Professor Emeritus Kanigula Mubagwa, rector van de Katholieke Universiteit van Bukavu, is nu lid van de Academie van de Internationale Unie voor Fysiologische Wetenschappen (IUPSA), het enige orgaan ter wereld dat de gehele gemeenschap van onderzoekers, docenten en studenten in de fysiologie vertegenwoordigt. Hij vertegenwoordigt niet alleen de DRC maar ook Afrika, naast zijn collega uit Zuid-Afrika.
